"The really ingenious use for kayaking is that the boat is merely a tool, to explore not just the world around us, but within us. Without pun, it is but a vessel for self discovery and personal growth. Though we can be judgemental about others and their prefered camp or methods on boating, its this diversity in purpose that boating has, which makes it a noble pursuit. The best thing about it is that we can take the empty plastic shell and transform it into a part of ourselves that can express artisanship on a wave, perfectionist drive on the slalom course, the insatiable search for the less paddled, the perspective altering rush of a big drop, and the somewhat universal goal of giving up to our more natural counterpart and letting her take us as she would. Through our individualism as boaters, we yearn for the big mystery, whether on the river bottom or around the next bend."
